Playrooms All Rooms (2026): The Eight Pit Areas

Every Playrooms room in 2026, including the Poolroom, Backrooms, Waiting Room, Office, Hotel and School, with the pit achievement and the mistake to avoid.

Last Updated: 2026-11-05

Quick answer: Playrooms has eight ball-pit areas: the Playroom, Poolroom, Backrooms, Waiting Room, Office, Hotel, School and a final pit. Each area has one clear achievement, one traversal gimmick and a handful of hidden balls. The order below follows the achievement list, not an official chapter menu.

Area Theme Gimmick Clear achievement Watch out for
Playroom Pink ball pit Tutorial layout Clean Playroom Balls behind the pit lip
Poolroom Water and tiles Split levels, water Clean Poolroom Balls under the pool edge
Backrooms Yellow liminal maze Repeated doors Clean Backrooms Losing your route
Waiting Room Reception and chairs Blind corners Clean Waitingroom Ceiling and under-chair balls
Office Green carpet maze Phone, endless stairs Clean Office The worker that follows you
Hotel Red corridors Shifting rooms Clean Hotel Corridors narrowing
School Classrooms and gym Locker bursts Clean School Full hands during a burst
Final pit Exit area Last delivery Clock out Walking out before dumping

The table order matches the achievement list and the way the pit-completion achievements appear on Steam. Two Pixels has not published an official act structure, so if the game sends you to a different room first, follow the game; the table is a route plan, not a lock.

Playroom

The tutorial area. One large pit, a wide floor and enough balls to teach capacity without punishing you. The Playroom is the best place to test how the scoop works and how much a full delivery pays. Do not leave without buying the key to the next area; everything else can wait.

The only hidden-ball trap is the gap between the pit lip and the floor. Walk the pit's perimeter once before you leave.

Poolroom

The Poolroom adds water, tiles and a second level. The pit is usually reachable from the pool deck, but the balls are not all on the deck: they collect along the waterline, in the corners and under the lip. Plan a loop that ends at the pit instead of crisscrossing the water.

The Poolroom is also the first place where a ball can end up inside geometry. If the counter will not reach the pit total, hold the handheld vacuum against the wall seam before you try a full reset. The Poolroom guide→ covers the route.

Backrooms

The Backrooms is the first maze. Yellow wallpaper, repeated door frames and rooms that look identical. The game leans on the liminal-horror joke here: there are more doors than the floor plan needs, and some of them lead back to the corridor you just left.

Clear by corridor, not by room. Pick a direction, clean until the corridor ends, deliver, then pick a new direction. The "Level 0" achievement fires on the pit clear. If the lights fail, the lights out guide→ explains the audio cues.

Waiting Room

The Waiting Room is small on the map and large in practice. Balls sit under the chairs, behind the reception desk, in the dark corners beside the vending area and near the ceiling. The central pit makes it tempting to ignore the edges, which is exactly where the last few balls are.

This room is a good flashlight test even when the lights are on: the beam catches balls in shadow that the room lighting hides. It is also one of the better sparrow rooms, with several vertical hiding spots. The Waiting Room guide→ has the search order.

Office

The Office is a green carpet maze with cubicles, a phone and a staircase that does not end. The phone is optional. Answering it brings an office worker to your position; the worker follows you and changes the route you can take. Ignoring it leaves the room quieter but does not remove the worker forever.

The staircase is a time sink. There is no pit at the top and no collectible that justifies the climb on a first run. Clear the floor, fill the pit, leave. The Office guide→ explains the phone behavior.

Hotel

The Hotel is the most interesting room in the game. The layout shifts, doors lead to different rooms, and the corridor narrows if you stay too long. The room-number plates are the stable reference; use them to mark what you have cleared.

Work in short loops. Deliver often. If a corridor starts to close, turn around immediately rather than pushing to the end. The Hotel guide→ covers the room-marking routine and the night behavior.

School

The School is the biggest interior: classrooms, a gym, red lockers and clusters of balls that burst when a locker opens. The burst is the main hazard. Open lockers with empty hands, step back, then collect. If a locker spawns fewer balls than expected, your carry capacity was probably full at the moment of the burst; reloading from the main menu respawns the locker contents.

Clear the gym last. It is the longest walk from the pit, and the ball density is lower than the classrooms. The School guide→ covers the locker behavior and the gym route.

The final pit

The last area is a single pit rather than a themed room. Fill it, walk through the exit, and the "Clock out" achievement fires. There is no boss and no branch. Dump everything you are holding before you step through the exit; the final payout resolves on delivery.

The final pit is not a victory lap

Players who sprint to the exit with a full load can miss the last payout. Deliver first, then leave.

Which room is the hardest?

Difficulty in Playrooms is mostly route complexity, not combat. The Hotel is the hardest to navigate because the layout changes. The School is the longest. The Office is the most annoying if you answer the phone. The Poolroom is the most likely to produce a stuck ball.

If you are short on time, the rooms worth rushing are the Playroom and the Poolroom; the rooms worth slowing down for are the Hotel and the School.

Room order and completion

The pit achievements are separate from the story achievements. You can finish the game without clearing every room to 100%, because the exit only requires the final pit. Completionists need every pit plus the collectibles, which is why the 100% checklist→ groups tasks by room.

FAQ

How many rooms are in Playrooms? Eight pit areas, counting the final pit. Six of them are named themed rooms, plus the Playroom and the final area.

What is the correct room order? The achievement list runs Playroom, Poolroom, Backrooms, Waiting Room, Office, Hotel, School, final pit. The game has not published an official chapter list, so follow in-game prompts if they differ.

Which room is the hardest? The Hotel, because the layout shifts and the corridors narrow. The School is the longest rather than the hardest.

Can you skip rooms? No. The final pit is gated behind the earlier areas, and each area's key is bought with delivered balls.

Do I need to fully clear each room? Only the pit is required to progress. Full clears matter for achievements and the 100% checklist.
